Jeff manages the Distance Learning Team and supports partnership relationships for the Office of Learning Technology. He has worked with faculty on the design of undergraduate and graduate distance and mixed mode courses at UBC and internationally. He also teaches two courses in UBC’s Masters of Educational Technology, “Text Technologies: the changing spaces of reading and writing,” and “Design of technology supported learning environments.”

Sunah provides leadership in the application of educational technology and research to the design and development of distance learning courses. Her research interests are anchored in the area of developing effective interactive learning experiences for online distance learning courses.
Chris directs and produces video for distance learning courses and related online learning resources. He is also the producer/director of several collaborative multimedia projects that involved the creation of online learning resources for universities and colleges across BC.

John manages the development and operation of a number of OLT’s online courses, as well as a range of special projects across the university. He also teaches in UBC’s Master of Educational Technology (MET) program.
Donna has experience in designing active and collaborative online learning environments as well as teaching online and face-to-face. She is knowledgeable of best practises and adult education principles for both online and traditional classroom settings. Her interests are in distance education, human behaviour patterns, languages, travel, and culture.
Afsaneh is interested in the application and integration of technology into the learning environment in a way that both enhances learning and makes it easy for instructors and students to use. She likes to explore diversity and cultural challenges in an online environment, and how the visual representation of information aids learning. Particular interests for her include accessibility, community of learning, open education, and instructional/learning design.
Brian assists faculty design, build and maintain their online courses. In addition to both teaching and studying in the online environment, he also has many years experience teaching face-to-face. He is currently interested in how learners studying in their second (or additional) language interact in L1 content environments and how this affects the application of teaching methodology.

Anne-Rae manages the overall production, delivery and maintenance, web design, and learner support for distance (online and print-based) courses. She works with her team to ensure that courses are ready for each new session and run smoothly throughout the term. She also designs and programs distance learning courses and researches new technologies related to distance learning.
Joseph is responsible for overseeing web programming projects and for taking the lead in training and documentation of web based efficiency tools/plugins related to the design and maintenance of an online course, as well as the research, design, and development of these tools. He also designs and implements the development of CSS templates for the web programming team which follow W3 and accessibility standards, and streamlines the web development process providing consistency for online course design and delivery.
Edwin provides migration support for the LMS Blackboard project for on campus courses. He ensures that courses that are migrated from Vista into Blackboard go through a Preparation Course Mapping Phase, Clean up Phase and Quality Assurance phase so that the course is in teachable format for the instructor or Instructional Support Staff.
Gabriel provides project management, leadership, and production expertise in the design and preparation of educational content for the distance courses. He creates illustrations, banners, and complex animated processes for multimedia and web projects. Gabriel also designs logos, corporate imagery, and promotional materials for OLT, and directs photo and video shoots for the distance courses.
Nicole works with faculty and instructional designers on the design, development and delivery of online distance learning courses.
Andrea assists with the production process for the distance learning courses offered by OLT.
Josefina works with faculty and instructional designers to design, develop and deliver online distance learning courses.
With a focus on a learner-centered approach to the delivery of course materials and communications, Susan acts as a liaison between learners, front-line support staff, instructors and the OLT course development team to ensure a high standard in course delivery.
Affiliates
Amrit is an Instructional Designer with Organizational Development & Learning (ODL), and is supporting the ODL and Finance units in creating online content for their programs. She has a Masters in Education Technology and a background in post-secondary course design, teaching, and student learning. Her present interests are understanding immigrant and intercultural identities, and supporting community dialogue.
