This year’s e-Learning Open House was held at the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre on March 5th — the first time there, and hopefully the first of many. Participants and presenters told us they were impressed with the 4th floor Royal Jubilee room, with sunshine pouring through the skylights and enough room to mingle without spilling your wine. (See comments from the Feedback Forms elsewhere in this issue).
Two years ago we had 15 presenters and just over 170 attendees at Open House. Last year we grew to 20 presenters and almost 200 participants. This year at ‘Ike’ we topped all that with 25 presenters and 230 visitors! Open House — co-sponsored by e-Strategy and the Office of Learning Technology — has clearly become an anticipated annual event for e-learners across campus.
Congratulations to Patty Hambler of Student Health Services, winner of our door prize — a 9-inch Netbook from Dell. Other winners included Sean Sullivan (Public Affairs) and Richard Spencer (UBC IT), who took home backpacks and daytimers from BCNET.
As we do every year in the e-Strategy Update , we’ll let the pictures tell the story. Photographer John Chong from UBC IT roamed the event and captured a few memorable moments… – (You can advance through the pictures using arrows embedded in the photo margin)
