Welcome Message to Learners
At the Office of Learning Technology (OLT), we develop and deliver credit courses and professional programs in collaboration with the Faculties and academic departments on campus. Courses are available to students from UBC, Thompson Rivers Open Learning (TRU-OL), and others via partnership agreement.
Distance education provides options in terms of where and when you learn. You may study independently, with the guidance of an instructor who grades and comments on your work or you may study online, communicating with your instructor and other students in your “online” classroom.
Studying independently or online with other students can be a challenging and rewarding experience. You will need to be well organized and motivated. If you live at distance to the University campus or don’t come to campus often, it is easy to feel out of touch with some of the resources available to you and you will likely have questions as your studies progress. We have developed a number of links to resources which will help you achieve a successful outcome in your distance education studies. We are continuing our research into new technology tools to enhance your learning experience. One of the latest initiatives of UBC is the LEAP gateway to academic resources.
