Currently living in Ontario, Catherine Salinas has taken three Earth and Ocean Sciences distance education courses over the last two years, and plans to take a few more in the upcoming Winter term.

Jennifer Nielsen is a full time UBC employee and she admits “a lot of people have shown scepticism when I have told them I am taking courses via distance education.” However, her experiences deny such scepticism as she has “found the option of taking distance education classes to be essential to finishing and upgrading [her] Bachelor of Arts degree.”

A 4th year Political Science student, Greg Dunn, began his studies at UBC more than 20 years ago. Recently, he registered for three distance education courses to finish his degree: HIST 432, FREN 348, and FREN 349.

Jonathan Lopez is a second year student in the Integrated Sciences Program, specializing in Environmental Microbiology. One of his program requirements is the completion of BIOL 200: Cell Biology I: Structural Basis and he “chose to do it through distance education because it best fit [his] schedule.”
