This online LTIsession, delivered using Live Classroom, will provide the UBC community with some ideas and strategies for successfully teaching in the online environment using WebCT Vista. Specifically, we will discuss the role of the instructor, communicating effectively with students, and managing your class with the group manager and student tracking tools. An interactive case study will also be presented to session participants using Live Classroom’s polling tool.

- Screen Capture Basics with Jing

This fun-filled hands-on workshop will introduce participants to Jing, a free tool that enables you to snap a picture of your screen and record video of onscreen action. Select a window or region and Jing will record up to five minutes of video of everything that appears in that area. Jing can also record your sparkling commentary at the same time! We will also look at uploading Jing content to an online sharing service so that videos can be made available to a wider audience (i.e students, colleagues). - The 2010 Horizon Report Unplugged

This ONLINE session examines strategies to deliver content even when students or instructors can’t make it to class because of a wide-spread illness. The Academic Continuity Toolkit (ACT) website provides UBC instructors with a brief introduction to various tools and techniques that can be used to extend the classroom in face-to-face education and synchronous/asynchronous distance education. This online session introduces the ACT toolkit which provides detailed information including: how to get started, where to learn more, how to get help, what you need to know about a selection of UBC supported tools.
