One terrific keynote on sustainability education.
Six thoughtful and provocative panelists debating on the merits of integrating social media in formal higher education.
Three interactive lectures complimented by three hands-on workshops.
One closing discussion on sustaining student engagement.
More than 70 registrants, presenters, and volunteers learning, and sharing throughout the day.
These are just some of the elements that made EDUCamp 2010 a success last March 18. Members of the UBC community were abuzz in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre (IKBLC) as they shuffled between the Lillooet Room and the Centre for Teaching and Academic Growth (TAG) Seminar Room to get to the sessions they were attending. Attendees learned about the different ways they can make their teaching and learning more sustainable. From partnerships in community service learning, to the benefits of integrating audio and video, and to what you can use to be more open in education, EDUCamp had something for everybody.
On behalf of the organizing committe, we’d like to thank:
- all our presenters and facilitators, including the keynote and the Great Debate panelists, for making the conference a rich experience for everyone
- all the volunteers and conveners. Without them, we could not have organized EDUCamp.
- the IKBLC and TAG for allowing us to use their facilities and equipment.
- the Centre for Instructional Support in the Faculty of Applied Sciences for lending us some extra laptops.
and lastly, we thank all of you who registered and came. EDUCamp would not be the same without all of you.
Want to relive the sessions or review the presentations you saw? Go to our Previous EDUCamps page and see the resources that the presenters have shared. We’ve even got videos from the Great Debate, and Thinking Sessions I and III. Unfortunately, we had glitches with both the online archiving and the video cam so we don’t have any record of the keynote. Fortunately though, Duane shared his notes and slides online.
Finally, we’d like to ask everyone to fill out this short feedback form. Let us know what you liked, what worked, what we can change, and what you would like to see. Any comment is appreciated and will help us organize a better EDUCamp next year.
Thanks again to everybody that made EDUCamp 2010 a success and see you all again next year!
