Ah June, the start of the summer season is upon us! For a lot of people, it’s the time for a much needed vacation and long days of sunlight. Before you step out and spend all your free time, check out what OLT has lined-up for you this June. From informal workshops to online sessions, these events will help get ready before September.   • Time to ACT! Academic Continuity Toolkit
    Time: 12:00PM – 1:00PM

    Description:
    This online session examines strategies to deliver content even when students or instructors can’t make it to class because of a wide-spread illness. The ACT website provides UBC instructors with a brief introduction to various tools and techniques that can be used to extend the classroom in face-to-face education and synchronous/asynchronous distance education. You will be introduced to the ACT toolkit which provides detailed information including: how to get started, where to learn more, how to get help, what you need to know about a selection of UBC supported tools.

  • Personal Learning Environments I: Creating Your Learning Map

    Description:
    What your vision for your future? What resources do you have (or need to develop) to support your journey? In this session, you will focus on creating your own personal learning map as part of the overall goal of developing your personal learning environment (PLE). This two-part PLEs session will offer you time and space to imagine and define your own pathway to your goals. You’ll consider the competencies that you have and want to develop and you’ll learn about the personal resources, networks and web-based tools that can help you do and learn what you want to learn. Everyone is encouraged to attend both workshops and to bring their own laptop.

  • WebCT Vista Basics I

    Description:
    In this HANDS-ON workshop, you will gain a basic understanding of WebCT Vista’s tools and components. You will experience an online course as a student and as an instructor/designer. This session is an important prerequisite to more advanced WebCT Vista sessions and will cover the fundamentals needed to get you started!

  • Personal Learning Environments II: Environment to Support Your Learning

    Description:
    In this second part of the Personal Learning Environment session, you will focus on developing the environment to support your learning from people within and outside your network, to technologies and resources that can help you. This two-part PLEs session will offer you time and space to imagine and define your own pathway to your goals. You’ll consider the competencies that you have and want to develop and you’ll learn about the personal resources, networks and web-based tools that can help you do and learn what you want to learn. Everyone is encouraged to attend both workshops and to bring their own laptop.
  • WebCT Vista Basics II
    Time: 1:00PM – 3:00PM
    Location: TAG Rm. 222 A/B, Irving K. Barber Learning Centre, Map

    Description:
    In this HANDS-ON workshop, you will gain a basic understanding of WebCT Vista’s tools and components. You will experience an online course as a student and as an instructor/designer. WebCT Vista Bootcamp II builds on the skills you developed in WebCT Vista Basics I. We will look at adding headers and footers, adding a banner image, creating and managing groups and group assignments, downloading and grading assignments, creating a media and glossary collections. We will also take a look at Wimba Voice Tools and the new Media Wiki tool.
